Leadership Program Development

LKB provides onsite Consulting Services to strengthen schools and communities by navigating them through the process of starting their own leadership programs.

Scholarship Program

Leslie K Bedford Scholarship Program honors the memory of Leslie Bedford. It was created in August 1994 with a generous donation from Mobil Oil Corporation, Dallas Texas.

Leslie K. Bedford’s life was tragically taken by a senseless and random act of violence on September 11, 1992, while picking up a co-worker in need of a ride to work. The LKB Founders pay special tribute to her legacy by recognizing the achievements of young women to help make a college education a reality.

Scholarship applicants must be exceptional female high school seniors who excel academically while taking on youth leadership roles and volunteering in their local communities. They must have attended LKB’s Young Women’s Leadeership Camp in their junior year in order to be eligible to apply in their senior year. Applications will be distributed at a College and Career Readiness event. Winner(s) will be notified by May 1 of every year. Contact pbedford@lkbacademy.org with any questions.

Young Women’s Leadership Camp

This annual one-day college and career readiness program emphasizes college preparation, career guidance and practical advice for high school juniors and seniors, and their parents.

The program focuses on strengthening young women in the areas of determining college and career path, interviewing, networking, and personal branding.  A reception follows that allows participants to practice networking with professionals in the community.

Recipient(s) for the Leslie K Bedford scholarship will be selected from this program.
